A Time To Come Together

Finding My Place

New

I believe we each have to find our place in the larger movement to make the world a better place.  I am very grateful to have found myself in the middle of the modern labor movement.  I am extremely proud to be the bargaining delegate for my unionized Starbucks.  This is one way that I put my love for my fellow human beings into action.

Newfound Awareness

New

Over the past few years, I have been learning as much as I can about history and politics. It's not enough for me to simply love all people.  I am continuously learning how to alchemize my love into actions.  I was not taught history that centers the voices of black, indigenous, latine, AAPI, queer, disabled and poor people.  Now, I seek out history and stories told from the voices of marginalized people.

“Nihilism is a natural consequence of a culture (or civilization) ruled and regulated by categories that mask manipulation, mastery and domination of peoples and nature.”
― Dr. Cornel West

Now That I Know

Now that I know more I can not succumb to nihilism.  I must practice envisioning and creating systems that distribute wealth and power to the people.  I want to live in a society that puts the health of the Earth and people before profits the very few who already have what they need for countless lifetimes.  We can restore and nourish our communities and rebuild the bridge of respect between humans and Earth.  I am learning, living and loving in solidarity with folks of all intersectionality who have/are experiencing systemic oppression and violence. I pledge to use my love as fuel for systemic change. This begins by supporting the Land Back Movement and insist we #HonorTheTreaties now.

I am relearning history without a white-nationalistic gaze, challenging harmful beliefs, examining and actively dismantling white supremacy within my own being & community.

Systemic Change

We need a system that does not rely on discrimination, oppression, mass incarceration, and resource starvation to benefit very few individuals.  I believe we must tax the wealthy and distribute reparations to start to repair the damage caused to Indigenous and Black people in the USA.  We must de-escalate global tensions and work together to take care of our one and only home.   (Sorry, not sorry, Mars.)

Opportunity on a Local Level

We can all involve ourselves with local mutual aid initiatives, helping to build strong networks of support in our community.  This looks like securing food access, clean water, housing, mental health care, medical care, and education.  We can get involved with Earth clean-ups and joyful community programs.

When we put effort into ensuring the folks in our community have these basic humans needs and rights in abundance (and without commodification) the omnipresent grip and power dynamic of Capitalism becomes obsolete.

Resources and Organizations

This is only a fraction of the resources out there, and I will continue to add to this as often as possible.  Use this as a springboard for your own research and service. Together we are demanding and actualizing a new system that is founded on equality, respect, community, human services and love.

I love you all so much.  I have so much left to learn and am committed to continuously learning and doing better in all the ways I am empowered to do so.  If you have any resources you think should be on this list, please feel free to email me at AWholeWorldOfLove@gmail.com.
